Interior Finish
Finish is the part of the house people actually put their hands on. It is also the only part where a sixteenth of an inch is visible from across the room, which is why it is the stage that decides whether a house reads as well built.

How it goes
1. Selections
Profiles, species and reveals chosen together, with a sample on the wall before the order goes in.
2. Acclimate
Wood sits in the heated house before it is cut. Trim installed cold and dry opens up its joints by spring.
3. Install
Doors first, then base and casing, then the detail work — in that order so nothing gets scratched twice.
4. Punch
We walk it with you, list what is not right, and fix it before the job is called finished.

Do you paint the trim too?+
The carpentry is left filled, sanded and ready for finish. Painting is coordinated with your painter, or we can bring one in.
Why does trim open up in a Tahoe house?+
Because the indoor air here goes very dry in winter and the wood shrinks. Letting the material acclimate in the heated house first, and detailing joints so they hide movement, is most of the fix.
